Beginning of the end of the 'war on drugs'?


Canada.  Beginning of the end for war on drugs? 

Canadians have enjoyed a relaxed approach to marijuana usage for some time.  Canadians now look on as Americans south of the border are starting to legalise weed themselves.  After decades of failed prohibition in the USA a new future is emerging where those who enjoy cannabis for recreational or medical reasons are starting to get the same respect and protection that alcohol users have enjoyed.

Is this the beginning of the end for the ‘war on drugs’ ?  The Canadians and many others are beginning to sense a global shift away from the doomed policies of prohibition. The Canadian 'Vancouver Sun' asks if recent events in the USA really does signal the end of the 'war on drugs'
