France. New laws introduced for medical use of cannabis



In a ruling that not everyone completely understands yet, France has passed a decree that legalises use of cannabis medicinally.  The decree, in French, is here

Exactly what this will mean to the french stoners is not 100% clear.  But one thing which is clear is that this is a significant step forward by the French who are traditionally one of the less progressive European nations when it comes to recognising the benefits of cannabis. 
One thing this decree does do is to clear the path for national acceptance of cannabis as a medicine.  And history tends to show that when cannabis is accepted as a medicine the laws regarding recreational use tend to follow shortly behind
