The good news from the USA just keeps coming. Maryland officially became the 21st legal cannabis state in the USA. The Maryland House of Delegates last week voted 125-11 in favour of a new medical marijuana bill which protects patients with "severe pain, nausea, wasting syndrome, seizures, and severe muscle spasms" from their own police, meaning that officers will no longer be able to arrest and prosecute them. Patients will get a medical marijuana card which entitles them to access a state licensed dispensary.
A separate bill decriminalizes the possession of small amounts of recreational marijuana.Less than 10 grams of marijuana will no longer be a criminal offence instead it will be merely a civil offense punishable by a fine of up to $100 for a first offence.
With many more states already processing their own medical marijuana laws soon over half of the USA will have legal cannabis.
