Chile. 500g personal cannabis allowance and 6 plants 'almost' legal

Chile is about to start celebrating new cannabis laws which allows adults to have up to 500g of cannabis for private use in their own home and up to 6 plants.  In Paliament there were 68 votes in favour of the change to the Chile law, 39 votes against and 5 abstentions.  Adults are also allowed to have up to 10 grams of cannabis in public places.  The last steps to formalalise the new law will be approval by the Senate and the Health Commitee, when those steps have been taken the changes will become law.
Chile cannabis campaigners have made a priority of emphasising the medical importance of cannabis, which can now be legally prescribed for treatment of various illnesses.  The Chilean laws also allow for adult supervised cannabis use for under-16s.  As previously reported, Chile is also producing cannabis oil for cancer sufferers.  Chile citizens are now enjoying some of the most progressive cannabis laws anywhere.
