UK. Arrests for cannabis possession down by almost 50% in 5 years




The UK announced that arrests for cannabis possession have decreased by 43% since 2010.  At the same time the number of cautions given out for cannabis has dropped by 48%. Cannabis campaigners claim this is legalisation by stealth.  

Others claim that the Police have simply decided to take their own action in the absence of any political leadership.  The UK Police say that they are simply having to prioritise their resources due to cuts in their budgets, and point out that cannabis is not a policing priority
