USA. Colorado sells $88 Million in cannabis sales in Jan 2016

Colorado cannabis sales were a healthy $88 Million in January 2016 according to state revenue data   If that sales rate can be maintained over 12 months it will be Colorado’s first Billion Dollar cannabis year, thats not bad for a state of just 6 million people.  And it shows how much revenue is going into the hands of criminals in the other non-legal states.
Some people have questioned if the Colorado data genuinely reflects the cannabis usage rates of Colorado citizens, or whether Colorado is simply benefiting from a cannabis tourist boom with plenty of out-of-state tourists.  But however the data is interpreted it does mean a lot of extra tax revenues for Colorado which they were not getting before legalisation.  In December 2015 Colorado benefitted from $11 million in various cannabis tax receipts.
