Recent opinion polls in Florida indicate that 69% of voters will vote in favour of allowing Florida to become the latest state to legalize medical cannabis.  The official vote on ‘Amendment 2’ is on November 4th.  Perhaps of more interest is that the number of people actually opposing legal marijuana is just 28%, just a few years ago public opinion polls would often indicate 50% (or more) public opposition to cannabis legalisation. With only 28% opposing medical marijuana the Florida vote looks almost certain to pass.

The USA public are now in no doubt about the medical benefits of cannabis which is now legal in around half the USA.  The remaining non-legal states are finding that some of the hard work to sway public opinion in favour of medical marijuana is now already largely done.

In states where medical marijuana is already legal the controlled regulation of cannabis has entirely removed criminal involvement which has decreased police workloads and cleaned up the streets.  Additional benefits are the creation of jobs and extra tax revenues.  Florida voters are keen that they do not miss out on these benefits.
